Walsall Community Chaplaincy Project Unlocked for Life.....
The main activity of the organisation is to establish a Community Chaplaincy Project in the Borough of Walsall. Community Chaplaincies are structured to maintain a presence inside prison and in the community – with through the gate monitoring and ongoing support. The project aims to work alongside prison chaplaincy. The Project establishes a new post of Community Chaplain to provide a professional focus and resource for all the Faith Communities to improve and develop their contribution to the successful resettlement of those being released from prison and thereby reduce offending behaviour. It is based on the belief that intensive befriending, support and mentoring of ex-offenders, prior to discharge from prison, and in the immediate period after discharge, can lead to a quantifiable reduction in the rate of offending behaviour.
